Why the Forest Avenue BID:
To support businesses on Forest Avenue while making the avenue a shopping destination for all Staten Island.

What we do:
The Forest Avenue BID attracts new shoppers by:
- Getting the word out about Forest Avenue via a carefully planned advertising program.
- Providing additional sanitation services to make Forest Avenue shine.
- Throughout the year, organizing special promotions such as the Holiday and Spring Festivals.
- Removing graffiti from fire hydrants, parking meters, street signs as well as commercial buildings and roll-down gates along the BID.
- Providing new side-opening trash receptacles and identity banners.
- Illuminating Forest Avenue during the holiday season.
How we do it:
A business improvement district (BID) provides the resources needed to pay for additional services through an assessment on property owners and merchants. These services are in addition to the services already provided by the City of New York.
The City of New York, after a public comment period, agreed to sign into law the establishment of the District. This empowers the NYC Department of Finance to collect the assessments. Every dollar collected is returned to the District.
